miranda here! ryan is having me write this one because apparently i am a much better blogger. whatever that means.

we’ve just had one crazy week. our cd’s arrived the day before our release shows and before they got here we were biting our nails and refreshing the tracking number compulsively.  it wouldn’t have been much of a cd release without the cds..
oh and they are BEAUTIFUL. ryan really did an amazing job on the artwork.

our friends  www.lindsaysdiet.com & dj’s sex attack joined us from vancouver for our victoria release at lucky bar. the racoons opended up the show and it was completely packed. i’m pretty sure we sold out.  we also got new tshirts to go along with our new album.

one of the highlights for us this weekend was having some extra musicians join us on stage for the first time. we had saxophone, trumpet and violin. i also played flute and melodica. the new album is a lot more orchestral (yet still keeps with the poppy feel you know and love us for) and it felt so epic on stage.

the vancouver show was hosted by glory days at the biltmore and was an all-night dance party. what a great way to release an album. everyone was really welcoming and supportive.

thanks to everyone who made these shows possible (that sounds pretty cheesy doesn’t it? but it really does take a lot of people):
dave bain at surge ahead, unfamiliar records, jenn, marcus, megan, amy, jason, jordan, lindsays, jake, the racoons, julia, laura, andrew, anand, bryan….i’m forgetting people i know it.

we’ll be playing OLIO festival in vancouver august 13th and setting up lots more shows in the future. our album hits stores august 18th so keep an eye out. we’ll be releasing a few more songs onto our myspace over the next month so keep checking for that.

After two months in the studio and a jillion hours of mixing we have finished our brand new record, Chivalry’s Dead. We had some help from some amazing musicians on this album and we are super excited for you to hear it.

Chivalry’s Dead will be officially released on July 21, 2009.
Until then you can listen to our first single from the new record, “Telephone.”
You can still download it here, but not for long… don’t say we didn’t  warn you when it’s gone.

We have also posted some new Live Dates in our “Shows” section. Come and see us when we play with The Racoons at Sugar Nightclub in Victoria on June 12, and make sure you are there for our official Chivalry’s Dead CD Release Party with Glory Days and My Gay Husband in Vancouver on July 18 at The Biltmore.
